Firstly the railway, dividing the ordered Town Planning from the organic Sea Side & secondly, the main pier, acting as a shelter, dividing the rough sea from the calm.
To emphasize these two movements (that at the natural movement on the site & that of the pier), I decided to make my entrance stairs an extension of the site movement, leading into the movement of the building, which is that of the pier.
I elevated the main area of my design to make space for the natural forward movement created by the long linear pier, for cars & people on the ground level.
Building form: When looking at the building form, it emphasizes the movement of the pier, running towards the organic side, emphasized also by the roof in a forward movement.
