Plascon Prism Awards 2010
The choice of accent colour is appropriate in the following two respects:
Firstly it echoes the architectural design response to the specific climate and landscape, which is uniquely Northern Cape. A sustainable approach to working with the landscape and the climate, rather than against it, was adopted. The Gold Met 1 colour from Plascon 2010 colour palette applied to the floating roof planes, blends well with the landscape and allows the building to comfortably merge with its natural context.
Secondly, the selected focus, (Thatch Y3-B2-1 colour from Plascon 2010 colour palette), as with the building design, provides a neutral backdrop to the artist’s vibrant and colourful art.
The colour palette reinforces an integrated approach to the sustainable building design and the artist client.
